it depends on your eye color. in my experience and according to what i've learned in past research, it seems that you should use the color that's on the opposite side of the color wheel. for example, my eyes are green, so i use purple shadow/liner. if your eyes are blue, then golds/browns are good. if your eyes are brown, blues and purples are nice. i'm pretty sure the only time you shouldn't use black eye liner is when you're blonde with fair skin, in which case you would wear brown eyeliner instead.
any?...it doesn't matter what shape your eyes are what matters is if it stays for longs and is water proof and stuff like that and in that case I'd recommend L'oreal's Hip cream eye liner
